Examinations and Promotions

Academic assessments are a vital part of the educational journey, designed not only to evaluate knowledge but also to guide improvement and growth. At The Namakkal Teachers Vidhyaashram Matric Higher Secondary School, we follow the examination norms and evaluation guidelines prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

01

Examination Pattern

The academic year is divided into three terms. Each term includes:
One Mid-Term Test
One Term-End Examination

All examinations are structured to assess students’ comprehension, critical thinking, and application-based learning. Every exam carries appropriate weightage and is considered while deciding the promotion to the next class.

02

Promotion Criteria

To qualify for promotion to the next grade, a student must secure a minimum of 40% marks in each subject. Consistent academic performance, classroom participation, and project work also contribute to the overall assessment.

03

No Re-examination Policy

No re-examinations will be conducted under any circumstance if a student is absent for a test or exam. Parents are advised to ensure their ward’s presence during all assessments to avoid any academic setbacks.

04

Communication of Progress

Parents are kept informed about their child's academic performance after every exam through Open House sessions (Parent-Teacher Meetings). These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss student progress, strengths, and areas requiring improvement.

05

Holistic Assessment Approach

In today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape, the school recognizes that academic excellence cannot be measured solely by one test. We emphasize continuous assessment, classroom observation, project-based learning, and overall participation to get a comprehensive understanding of the student’s learning journey.

06

Academic Integrity

Use of unfair means or malpractice during examinations is treated with zero tolerance. Any student found cheating or violating exam conduct will face strict disciplinary action, including the possibility of expulsion from school.

07

Duplicate Report Card Policy

In case of loss or damage to the original report card, a duplicate copy can be issued on request. A processing fee of Rs. 50/- will be charged for the same.

08

Remedial Classes for Slow Learners

To support students who need additional academic assistance, remedial classes are conducted daily from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Attendance in these sessions is mandatory for selected students, and parents are requested to make their own arrangements for transportation after class hours.

09

At Namakkal Teachers Vidhyaashram, we are committed to academic excellence with fairness, transparency, and student-centered support systems. With active collaboration from parents, we aim to help every learner reach their highest potential.
